JCT follows Mahindra's footsteps to disband itself

Speculations come true as JCT disbands itself

It was a real shock last season when Mahindra United disbanded itself to concentrate more at the grass root level, and now its the turn of JCT,the 40 year old club, who were the winners of the inaugural National Football League. JCT were never relegated earlier till the last season, where they got relegated to the Second Division for the first time. Today, it was announced that the club is disbanding itself from Indian Football setup.

The reasons pointed out by JCT chief Samir Thapar was AIFF's inability to market the game. He was also unhappy with the failure of the Federation to rope in a broadcast partner despite signing a historic deal with IMG Reliance worth Rs. 700Crores. JCT will however continue to proceed with its Academy which has brought many youngsters over the past and has been supplier to other clubs as well.

Mr. Thapar, also stated that JCT will continue to focus on the grassroots level for the development of the game.
