Regional Academy Trials concludes in New Delhi

Academy trials concludes in New Delhi

The National Trials for the Regional Academies, the first of its kind in India, ended at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday (February 16). The two-day trial organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), was conducted and supervised by AIFF Technical Director Rob Baan and Scott O’Donell, Technical Manager for Regional and Elite Academies. Over hundred U-14 kids attended the trials.

“It was great to see so many kids turn up for the Academy Trials and it was even more pleasant to see the enthusiasm of the parents who brought their kids to the Stadium and witnessed the entire process patiently,” Scott O’Donell, said.

“It only goes on to show the interest over football in the Capital Region. We have selected some boys and hopefully some of them would make it to the final Selection Camp which will kick-off later,” he added.

The AIFF would also be organising trials in other Centres and the best among the shortlisted kids form all the Centres would be called for a month-long Camp beginning mid-March.

At the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, over hundred kids turned up on the first day of the Trials. The kids were made to play in different batches out of which some were shortlisted. On the second day, the shortlisted kids were joined by some more kids after which the final shortlisting was done.

The next Trials are slated to be held in Kolkata on February 18-19, 2012.
