I-League 2012-12: Five Things To Expect This Season

1)  International Stars Arrival:-

International stars galore in i-League

I-league and star attraction are no more a distant dream with stars from top leagues like A-league and MLS looking to see india as possible as an exciting footballing destination with stars like Carlos Hernandez (Costa Rican International and A-legues’s former MVP Player) - Prayag United, Rohan Rickkets(former english U-18 player and Tottenham Player)-Dempo  and Billal Najjarin(Lebanon National team Defender) and Akram Mogharbi(Lebanon National Forward) joining Henry Antchouet – all Churchill Brothers and Zohim Islam Amiri (Afghanistan Nationa team defender)- Mumbai fc.

Along with these National team stars, we also have already established foreigners who are here to prove their point against international who will be lead by Odafe, Ranti Martins as usual in this season.

2)  New Stadiums for New Season:-
New Stadiums all set to rock the Indian Footy fans

I-league are too much associated with the stadiums in YBK, Balewadi Stadium and Fatorda Stadium covering most of  the matches, which could well be changed this time with the possibility of seeing some other stadiums with likes of tilak stadium, MB ground could get some I-league action with the return of Top league football in Mumbai with probable inauguration of Cooperage in coming December. But, the main Stadium to be watched out for has to be Paljor Stadium with an excellent Mountain View this stadium Possess could well be a probable location for football Tourist.

3) Power Shift in this season??

I-league had almost made its home in Goa. But can we see a change of wind with the presence of big spenders in Prayag United who had given the message to all rivals which is almost making up with an all star team. East Bengal with federation Cup in their Kitty should well be motivated to go from Knock-out Champion to National Champion- the only trophy not won by them under TJM. Pune FC who could well be the club whom we can come close to say as modern day club in present scenario, had always been Dark Horse in the championship run.

4)  League environment for fans:-

A Sporting League’s success is measured on the basis of fans response at the stadium and also with TV viewers. This season we can expect a better response with 2 NE clubs with SLFC already being a good crowd puller last season and USFC who showed lot of scope for the same as was seen in last season in 2nd Division too. Kolkatta teams of Mohun Bagan, East Bengal had always been decent in this section with Prayag United too expected to join this season.

With the announcement of 3-year deal between Ten Sports and IMG-RIL-AIFF for I-league rights, we should be expecting a better coverage of the league this season to make it more viewer-friendly and could bring us with more fans for domestic league.

5)  New Manager  Mantra:-

This season we see some of our top clubs getting new managers with more prominent being Kashyap who could well be termed as our very own league’s Brendan Rodgers showing impressive performance with a modest spending club like Air India and making a huge jump to one of hottest and unstable coaching job of league in Mohun Bagan coach. Another person who could well be watched not only by the club but also by every national team follower will be Arthur Pappas and his team, Arrows.Arrows had always been having 2 different halves in first learning half and second decent performance half of the seasons. Arrows fans could be expecting a consistent team in their team under Pappas.
