East Bengal will take on Indonesian Premier League table toppers Semen Padang for the first leg of AFC Cup 2013 Quarter-finals at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata tomorrow, September 17th, 2013.

First real test for the Brazilian
coach Marcos Falopa
Penn Orji, Will East Bengal
miss his services?
Under Brazilian coach Marcos Falopa this will be the first big test for a side which has not played any high quality opponent yet of the stature of Semen Padang. Restricted only to a few matches in the ongoing Sahara Calcutta Football League, Kingfisher East Bengal undoubtedly has that disadvantage to its name while their opponents who have already played a good chunk of their Indonesian Premier League(IPL) matches and more importantly they are dominating the proceedings by quite a good margin in their home country.

Joaquim Abranches, looked
really impressive
till now for Red and Golds
Though, so far East Bengal team have looked good without their midfield commander Penn Orji(who left the Red and Golds for Mohammedan SC), but things won't be that easy against the Indonesian champions. But, since Trevor James Morgan's departure, Kingfisher East Bengal have added great firepower to their forward line with the addition of Joaquim Abranches and James Moga, with Joaquim specially looking in fine form from the early glimpses he has shown in Calcutta Football League. Hardly there had been much change in the defense with Saumik Dey, Uga Okpara, Arnab Mondal and Naoba all being very best at their position,  would try to cool off the visiting forwards lead by the prolific Liberian forward Edward Wilson, who is currently the second highest scorer of the tournament with 9 goals.

East Bengal's biggest weapon is their home advantage in the first leg and they would want to make the most of it by notching few goals upfront without conceding any.
