Team India registered a 1-0 victory over Laos in the first leg of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers played at the New Laos National Stadium, Vientiane on Thursday, 2nd June 2016. The only goal came from the in-form Jeje Lalpekhlua whose header was on target from a Udanta Singh's delivery in the 54th minute.

India will go into the second leg with a crucial away goal advantage. The second leg is scheduled on 7th June 2016 in Guwahati.
